Ready to get to know Tara Beth Leach a little better? We asked her a few fun and thoughtful questions about life, ministry, and what she’s most excited about right now.

How would your friends describe you in a few words?
A holy tornado of passion and purpose. Also: talks fast, preaches hard, and will definitely send you a reel that made her laugh. Basically, if caffeine and calling had a baby… it might be me. I’m serious about the mission, but I don’t take myself too seriously. I’ve been known to roast myself, trip over my words mid-sermon, and still keep going with a smile.
What’s one small thing that’s helping you stay rooted in Scripture right now?
My morning practice. Every day, I begin with what I call the GREAT Morning Revolution—a rhythm of Gratitude, Reflection, Exaltation, Asking, and Trust. It’s not fancy or long, but it’s faithful. Even when I’m in seasons of exhaustion or waiting, this small daily act of opening my Bible and sitting with God reminds me who I am and whose I am.
Who has influenced your teaching style or shaped your understanding of Scripture the most and why?
Beth Felker Jones has deeply shaped how I think theologically and how I communicate Scripture with both depth and clarity. And Fred Craddock’s storytelling approach to preaching taught me that the best sermons don’t just explain—they invite people into a journey. I want my teaching to echo that—faithful, thoughtful, and full of wonder.
What inspired you to write Threaded? Where did the idea come from?
The idea for Threaded came out of my desire to help people see the Bible as one beautiful, connected story of covenant love. I’ve spent years walking with women in ministry and small groups, and so many have asked, “How does this all fit together?” Threaded is my attempt to respond to that question with wonder, beauty, and clarity—to help people see that even when life feels unraveled, God’s covenant love holds the thread.
Can you share an “a-ha” moment you had while researching or writing Threaded?
While studying the covenant with Abraham, I had one of those “pause-and-breathe” moments. I realized how wild and gracious it is that God would walk through the pieces of the covenant alone. That detail unraveled me. It reminded me that even when we can’t hold up our end of the promise, God holds the whole thing together. It’s His faithfulness, not ours, that anchors the story.
What’s your go-to coffee order or favorite way to treat yourself?
A cinnamon oat milk latte is my love language. And when I need a reset, nothing beats a long trail ride with my horse, Skye, under the open sky. That’s my holy ground.
What’s a fun fact or a hidden talent most people don’t know about you?
I can run a marathon… I once trained for the Chicago Marathon while raising young kids and pastoring a church—it turns out endurance shows up in all kinds of ways.
What do you hope participants walk away with after going through Threaded?
I hope they walk away knowing that their story—no matter how tangled or unfinished—is woven into the story of God. I want them to see the Bible not as a disconnected collection of rules or stories, but as a deeply connected thread of redemption that leads to Jesus. My prayer is that Threaded helps people trust that there is a plan, that there has always been a plan, and that they are not forgotten in the middle of it.
Threaded: Unraveling Our Story through God’s Covenants
There is a place for you in God’s grand narrative.
If you step back and look at the full story of God, you begin to see how he gathers seemingly loose and broken threads and masterfully weaves them into a beautiful tapestry. You’ll see a story of covenants (or promises) made by a faithful God to his people. And you’ll see that these promises build toward fulfillment in Jesus Christ and invite us to weave our lives into God’s larger narrative.
In this six-week video Bible study (video access included), pastor Tara Beth Leach illustrates these covenants as sacred threads. She paints a vivid picture of God’s redemptive weaving and will help you see your own life as one of those threads—part of a plan that has always existed and is still unfolding today.
This study guide has everything you need for a full Bible study experience, including:
- The study guide itself—with discussion and personal reflection questions, video notes, and Scripture exercises.
- An individual access code to stream all six video sessions online (DVD also available separately).
